CONVERSION PROGRAM vs HAND DRAWN:
Conversion programs do not usually produce good results. Vector-art-now prefers to hand draw all logos to ensure quality. To save you time and money a conversion tool may be used but only if the image allows. (image must be clean and sharp @ 300 resolution)

WHY VECTOR?
The majority of printers and promotional material factories prefer vector files. Vector files also offer quality graphics for the web.

Vector files are resolution-independent so they can be resized to any size without loosing quality.
A vector file is not made of pixels. Vector drawings are based on mathematical calculations from one point to another which define the angles and relationships between every line in the image. Because it is not made of pixels it will never have the "pixilated" look.
They are always crisp and clear.
You can easily assign spot colors to sections of a vector file allowing the file to be printed in 2 or 3 spot colors rather than 4 color process of CMYK files.
Fewer colors require fewer plates or screens, saving you money.
When using spot colors you have more control over the actual color involved, which makes matching a PMS color or swatch is more accurate.

LPI or DPI:

Lines per inch.Dots per inch. Within a half tone or screen, this is the number of lines or dots per square inch. 35-100 may standard for screenprinting. 100-175 is standard for off set printing. the more lines or dots there are the higher the detail is.

CMYK:
CMYK also known as process printing involves the process or printing 4 colors, magenta, yellow, cyan and black, to create all other colors. This process is usually used for photographs and offset printing of brochures and posters.

SPOT COLOR:
Spot colors are used when a design has 1-3 colors or when a design has to maintain a certain particular color such as a PMS color.

PMS COLOR:
Pantone Matching System (PMS) colors are specific colors used for printing and color matching.

OFFSET PRINTING:
A printing technique using plates -used to produce large volumes of high quality documents.
